ESS 201 - Sedimentary Rocks Lab 1 hour This lab and field class is designed to be taken concurrently with ESS 200: Earth’s Natural History. The course emphasizes hands-on description, analysis, and evaluation using equipment in the lab and field. Topics include understanding the textures and materials comprising paleosols, sediments, and sedimentary rocks by using particle size and shape, sieve grain size analysis, rock types, sedimentary structures, biostratigraphy, well logs, structural mapping, diagenetic features, and depositional environments. Course meetings once a week for half the semester and includes a local field trip. Corequisite(s): ESS 200 . UG
