EDUC 280 - General Methods & Assessment 3 hours This course involves an introduction to the wide array of educational and developmental psychology concepts, theories, principles, and strategies and their impact on the pedagogical techniques teachers implement in the classroom of the 21st century. Included in the curriculum is planning effective lessons and instruction, accommodating students with exceptionalities, working for success with at-risk students, parental involvement, classroom management, multiculturalism, integration of technology, integration of curriculum, and assessment-drive decision making. General teaching methods geared to early childhood, elementary, middle grades, and secondary teaching strategies are the focus of this course. Candidates will complete a field experience in conjunction with this course, during which they will practice the skills necessary for successful completion of the Education Teacher Performance Assessment (edTPA), Phase I, Phase I, and Phase III. This course is a prerequisite for admission to the Teacher Education program. Prerequisite(s): Successful completion of EDUC 200 - Human Development & Education or permission of the Director of Teacher Education. UG
