General Studies Major, B.S.

The Bachelor’s of Science in General Studies is a degree for students who are interested in the intersection of different areas of study.  Students in this major must complete the minimum degree requirements for Olivet Nazarene University, which include:

• Completion of 120 credits with a grade higher than D-
• Completion of 30 upper division college credits
• GPA of 2.0 or higher

Curriculum in the General Studies major will vary by student.  Students must complete coursework that meets the requirement of 2 minors from varying departments. (Students may not choose 2 minors within the same department.) In addition, students must successfully complete the GNST 490 - General Studies Internship which will include a capstone project that show significant academic mastery of the content areas in which students have completed minors. Capstones projects can take different forms (e.g.- research project, internship, recital, public performance, or creation of a product) but must represent the student’s learned knowledge of the content areas and completed in cooperation with the Department Chair of General Studies.
