MUED 390 - Critical Listening and Analysis of Music Production

An overview of the history of music production and an exploration of creative music recording and production techniques through critical listening. The course offers these two concepts in parallel. Students conduct research into the history of music production, the music industry, and its key producers while simultaneously developing a rich library of listening references. Through recording projects, students compare and contrast their productions with commercially released music to sharpen their techniques and bring their approach into alignment with best practices in their preferred genre.
