ENGR 212 - Engineering Mechanics 4 hours An introduction to the principles of mechanics for rigid and deformable objects, with their application to engineering systems in two dimensions. Topics include vector algebra, forces, moments, couples, friction, virtual work, kinematics of a particle, kinematics of a rigid body, dynamics of particles and rigid bodies, impulse, momentum, work and energy, stress and strain, bending, shear, deflection of beams, buckling of columns, and modes of failure. Offered every fall. Prerequisite(s): PHYS 201 and MATH 147 . UG
