CHED 484 - Spiritual Development of Students

3 hours
The student will learn to develop a holistic approach to the spiritual formation of students. In order for this to happen, the student will identify his/her personality type, identify other personality types and use this information to understand that basic spiritual development of self and others might look unique in everyone. It will be crucial to discover disciplines and practices that further holistic and age-appropriate spiritual formation. Understanding leadership as a reflection of one’s soul as well as the brain function that accompanies is imperative. This class will look at the challenges facing the church by exploring through the lenses of cultural context, the sciences, Scripture, reason, tradition, and experience. Learning more about the tensions between the systems of empire and the counter-cultural systems of the church and the way these shape the lives of adolescents, their families and the church itself will bring more clarity as to the leadership that is needed for the spiritual development of ourselves and those we are called to lead.
