HIST 379 - Latin American History and Politics 3 hours This course aims to provide students with an overview of Latin American history and politics. The topics, readings, and assignments engage students with major historical eras, trends and actors, as well as contemporary political and economic structures, and fundamental aspects of culture. Students will have the opportunity to identify, analyze, and discuss significant, underlying civilizational issues from the Pre-Colonial period to the present, including Colonialism, Independence, the US-Latin American relationship, and globalization.
